Two Nato nations to receive Hensoldt tactical radio reconnaissance system

Sensor specialist Hensoldt has signed an order to deliver a mobile system for tactical radio reconnaissance to two Nato countries.

With respect to this, Hensoldt has signed a multi-million-dollar order with the undisclosed Nato countries.

According to the company, the system comprises direction finders that are compact in size, digital broadband receivers, and real-time signal evaluation software.

The system’s key elements can be fitted onto armoured vehicles or can be carried easily into the operations theatre to identify threats.

Designed to monitor and analyse adversary’s radio traffic, the system provides a comprehensive picture of the situation through mission-proven Communication Intelligence (COMINT) technologies.

Hensoldt Spectrum Dominance Division chief strategy officer and head Celia Pelaz said: “Responsive and accurate analysis and classification of radio traffic is essential for a complete tactical picture of the situation.

“Our mobile and robust system provides the assurance that troops can rely on the support of the most powerful COMINT techniques in the field.”

Hensoldt has developed COMINT and Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) sensors and provides reconnaissance and jamming-capable integrated systems for the German Armed Forces and other Nato countries.

Recently, Hensoldt announced that it would showcase the company’s broad range of sensor technologies in the air, maritime, land and security domains at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2021, a defence and security trade exhibition.

In June, the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) contracted Hensoldt for the airborne electronic signals intelligence system ‘Pegasus’.
